A sideways ribbed tee with a curved hem and buttoned sides.
The boxy tee is knitted from side to side (left to right) in one piece with a curved hem in a slipped-stitch ribbing. No purling is necessary. The sides, knitted in 2×2 ribbing, are closed with buttons. You can choose between adding buttonholes or sewing the buttons through both layers of fabric for more security. The slipped-stitch selvedge creates a neat finish along the hem and neckline, and the curved hem creates shorter sides and a longer center front and back. The armholes are adjustable through personalized button placement.
Use wool/linen or wool/cotton blends to create a flattering tee that you can wear all year. You can knit the body with stripes as shown in the picture, along with matching ribbing at the sides. Alternatively, you can knit the entire piece in one color, add contrasting ribbing, create your own striped or color-blocked version, or use the intarsia technique to work the back and front in different colors.
Make it your own and have fun with it!
